We want to empower women to participate in local and national decision-making processes that impact their lives. Refugee Women of Bristol is looking for a female Arabic -speaking Community Worker to work at our drop-in centre at The Easton Family Centre on Tuesdays, term time only.

We are a dynamic, welcoming organisation providing English classes, an advocacy service, a lunch club, arts and crafts, yoga classes, workshops, and a free crèche.
We have a number of Arabic-speaking women using the centre and would like to encourage more to attend.
The Arabic speaking Community Worker will join the Mandarin and Somali-speaking Community Workers to welcome new women to the Centre, provide initial information and support, and introduce women to the different activities at the centre.
You need to be able to interpret and translate relevant information from Arabic to English and vice versa to enable women to take part in workshops and activities in the centre.
You will be provided with appropriate training and support, and the opportunity to work towards an interpreting qualification.

Please note all our roles are only available to women and as such are exempt under Schedule 9 Part 1 Equalities Act 2010.

Volunteer for us

Thank you for considering volunteering with us.

Refugee Women of Bristol is lucky to be supported by a very committed and passionate team of volunteers. They offer their time to provide services such as 1-2-1 Reading, Arts & Crafts and Cooking Skills. We are also very lucky to have volunteers who support our English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes. 

English Teacher Volunteer
Women coming to our classes tell us that they gain a great deal of confidence in using English and integrating into their local communities as a result of attending our classes. We welcome women who have an English teaching qualification to join our team of volunteer English teachers to provide an invaluable opportunity for women wanting to improve their English from Pre Entry to Entry 3 level.

English Teaching Assistant Volunteer
The teaching assistant volunteer role is an opportunity for any woman wanting to gain experience in supporting learners in the classroom. A vital role in supporting the English Teacher volunteers, the assistants concentrate on one to one and small group work with guidance from the English Teachers.
Please note all our volunteer roles are only available to women and as such are exempt under Schedule 9 Part 1 Equalities Act 2010.

Fundraise for us

Raise money for us through Just Giving. 

Fundraising is a fantastic way to support our work and it also helps raise awareness of the issues of refugees and the struggles they may be facing. From local cake sales to challenging hikes, any funds raised are gratefully appreciated in the effort to support safeguard the right of women.
